Support the Jewish Museum

The Jewish Museum is the only institution of its kind to explore Jewish culture through art. Through our unique curatorial vision and dynamic education programs, we engage visitors from all backgrounds, create pathways for connection, and demonstrate the many ways Jewish values are expressed and understood.

There are numerous ways to show your support and help us to share stories of Jewish experiences for generations to come. We invite you to join our community of supporters – every contribution makes an impact. For more information, please contact us at 212.660.1519 or [email protected].

Planned Giving

The Warburg Society

In 1944, Frieda Schiff Warburg made a transformational commitment to the arts when she donated her family’s home to become a museum of Jewish art and culture. To honor the Warburg family’s tradition of giving, the Jewish Museum has created the Warburg Society, a special group of generous supporters who provide for the institution by incorporating a planned gift or bequest into their personal legacy.

Benefits of Joining the Warburg Society

  • Invitations to special events and programs
  • Recognition at our annual Warburg Society events
  • Listing in the Museum’s newsletter

Bequests

A gift through your will is a simple, straightforward way to make a meaningful contribution to the next generation while entitling your estate to a charitable tax deduction.

Individuals can make the following kinds of bequests to the Jewish Museum:

  • Specific bequest: A sum of money, an appreciated asset, or property such as art, artifacts, or real estate.
  • Residuary bequest: All or a percentage of the assets remaining in your estate after specific bequests and all other expenses are paid.
  • Contingent bequest: A bequest to the Museum that comes into effect if your primary beneficiary does not survive you.

General Bequest Language

“I give, devise, and bequeath to the Jewish Museum in New York, New York, the sum of $____ (or state percentage of estate or a description of the specific asset) for the benefit of the Jewish Museum and its general purposes.”

Other Ways to Give

Gifts of Life Insurance and Retirement Assets

  • The Jewish Museum accepts outright gifts of life insurance that can provide you with an immediate charitable income tax deduction while creating a significant legacy for the Museum.
  • You may name the Jewish Museum as a beneficiary of all or part of a new or existing life insurance policy or retirement assets. These gifts often result in significant savings of income and estate taxes.

Art and Other Assets

  • You may choose to donate art, real estate, or other assets to the Museum while retaining lifetime use and receiving an immediate income tax deduction. Please note that there is an approval process for donations of this kind. For art donations, please see our FAQ page for more details

For more information on planned gifts and the Warburg Society, please contact Samantha Fleischman, Development Associate, Major Gifts, at 212.423.3227 or via email at [email protected].
